WHO ARE YOU FROM?

 WHO ARE YOU FROM?

The most painful period in history

Zeynep was walking on a thin white road with her blue boots leaving tiny little tracks in the snow. It's very cold, she thought, and accelerated her steps. Finally she got on the bus and let out a a sigh. Like everyone else, she immediately picked up her phone, her sixth sense organ.

There was only one subject she was focused on these days. She felt as if she was choking at the sight she saw.and it was like a punch in the gut. Inside, there was a little shame, a little fear and a lot of anger. Was her anger at the photographs or at herself? The bridge of her nose ached. There were prayers, prayers, prayers on her tongue. A desperate wait and heartbreaking images were never ending.

Many of us look at the sameimages every day with Zeynep.  The beginning was a hundred-odd days ago, but it still seems like yesterday. It was an ordinary morning on 7 October. Everyone was flowing into life in the same rush. But that day, some could not. Someone had kissed their children to sleep, but they woke up to a completely different day. A bomb had fallen on their cosy homes. Yes, nothing was the same for them. When we heard the painful news, we could not visualise it in our minds at first, but now we were feeling the pain that penetrated to our bones and we understood that human history had entered a completely different era. Nothing would ever be the same again.

Those people had to hold the embers falling on their homes and dreams with their hands. Most of all the children... The tiny little ones were like pearls scattered around. Some people's houses were burnt down, their water was cut off, there was no electricity. Some had no furniture, clothes, food, complete houses... But they were there, and they were everywhere.

ALLAH is our Agent...

With their women, children and men, they only said "God is our Agent" in that difficult test.

This was such a fire that it fell on their homes and in our hearts. The right reactions, prayers and patience of innocent civilians rising to the sky woke up the sleeping people. They set an example and held up a mirror not only to their locality but to the whole world. They made us question ourselves; "How would we react if we were in the same situation?".

They released the sprouts of belief in their hearts to the whole world. There were those who wondered about this belief and ran to the truth. Of course, there were those who ignored it...

Eyes laughing while jumping into the fire.

Yes, they were the ones who jumped into the fire that humanity was afraid of without blinking their eyes. They were the ones who fought there when they could have escaped and surrendered. What was fire for them? It meant rosy and peacefulness. Have you ever seen anyone laughing while jumping into the fire? The whole world saw it because of them.

The brushes in the hands of children and women were not for painting pictures of nature. They were to paint pictures of gratefulness. They also painted the picture of patience. Again, it was women and children who beautified the world. Mothers painted the picture of trust and loyalty. Together they showed us what a homeland is, what a flag is. They took the one who used the most beautiful paint behind them and painted the picture of surrender.

Someone drew courage in the picture.

We used to think that courage was a handsome, strong man in a film frame saving a young girl from the mafia.

However, courage was in the hearts of little children who stood up to armed men despite the pain of being orphaned...

The courage was in the gaze of that mother who pierced the enemy who wanted to harm her baby with her eyes, even though she was a woman...

Courage was in the wrists of that father who attacked his enemies with a stick in his hand, at the risk of leaving his wife and child behind...

It was the grandfathers who kissed the eyes of their martyred granddaughter and rushed to the hospital to help...

What about those who had no ties, who took to the streets even though their religion, language and culture were not the same?

What were they a picture of?

What trace were they leaving on the streets?

Who were those who had never heard the truth anywhere until today, who had not been told the truth, but who realised the truth with only a few videos and ran in flocks?

Thanks to them, we learnt what true courage is and who are the brave ones...

And then there were those who taught us cowardice;

Those who pity themselves and cannot hear their brother's pain...

Those who remain silent for the sake of their interests in the international arena...

Maybe they were the most miserable ones in this picture...

And what marks have you left on this world?

If you died one day, how would they remember you?

The good ones? The bad ones?

One of the brave?

One of the cowards? Would they say that about you?

And how would you like to be remembered?
